A representation overbearing, dominant characteristics and agendas of pageant mothers, mostly for pageants that include babies and toddlers that are made up to look like adults until they become a caricature of themselves. The crown and earrings are obviously too large for an infant, therefore prematurely maturing the child beyond her years.

The baby's gaze is fixed on the hands tending to the crown. The hands cut off at the wrist represent an absent mother, implying that the mother's care is non existent to the baby itself, and instead only focused on the glory of a pageant win. The baby sits in an oversized loving trophy cup, bathing in the spoils, jewels, and prizes that come with winning, oblivious to what it all means.

During the concept/design phase of creating a new piece, I usually sketch it out to solidify the composition, and make sure the message is properly conveyed.
