"Spearing" depicts Moving Robe Woman, a member of the Sioux tribe who fought against Custer at the battle of Little Big Horn. Moving Robe Woman is generally recognized as the only woman warrior in American Indian history. Some historians believe it was she who dealt the final blow to Custer himself, killing him with a stab wound to the heart, while a fellow warrior held his arms.

The piece includes symbols such as calvary trumpets, two Sioux spears, Custer's fallen hat, and Moving Robe Woman herself seated on her horse. The band has Native American carvings that embody the strength and courage of Moving Robe Woman in playing a pivotal role in the last major Native American victory: the Big Mountain stands for great abundance, Lightning for swiftness, Water for life, and an Arrow for protection.
