The body as canvas; a newer and increasingly popular form of art and career path. Most body painters begin by learning swirls on faces, and work from a bin similar to this. Tools of the trade that are represented are: paintbrushes in a paint cup, q-tips, liquid makeup, a sponge applicator, theatrical makeup, and a hand mirror. On each side, a swirly crown is painted on faces.
Another facet to the piece "Careering" is from my own experience, responding to countless remarks from people growing up saying "You'll never make a living off of that" and "Why don't you settle for a real job?" Surprisingly, face and body painting is becoming a popular career path for avant garde artists who embrace the idea of temporary & ephemeral art, and are successfully proving those aforementioned remarks false while creating a new art form. I've been a face and body painter since 2002.
